They should be inspected at every oil change. Manufactures recommend changing this filter every 15,000 miles. As the filter becomes more plugged, less air volume with enter the cabin. This also adds back pressure to the blower motor and possible premature failure. Remember this is what your breathing. - [Vehicle A/C Repair and Maintenance](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/vehicle-a-c-repair-and-maintenance): Why should I have a Professional ASE Certified Technician maintain and repair my vehicle’s HVAC system? The A/C system in your vehicle is a crucial component in making life in Tucson bearable with the onset of our 100+ degree temperatures. It creates a comfortable environment for drivers and their families while out and about. Proper maintenance and repair techniques are vital to ensuring this system stays functioning properly and doesn’t leave you on the side of the road in the middle of summer. Over time you may experience problems with the A/C system in your vehicle. It may start blowing warm air with the A/C on. Or the volume of air coming out of the vents may reduced. A leak in the refrigerant system can cause the A/C compressor to not engage. This leak will need to be repaired and the proper A/C refrigerant installed per the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications. Install the wrong refrigerant. Not enough refrigerant. Or too little refrigerant. Can all lead to other issues or damage to the system in some cases. Having a trained and certified technician repair your system is key to avoiding these issues. Reductions in air volume are most likely caused by a dirty or restricted cabin air filter. This filter is usually located behind the glove box in the HVAC case. It should be inspected at regular intervals to ensure it is clean and free of any debris or contaminants. Issues with the actual door mechanisms inside the HVAC could also be the cause of a lack of air flow. We have all seen the commercials for “A/C Pro” or any other similar products out there, that claim you can do it yourself. Please keep in mind that most of these products contain some type of ‘stop leak’ or sealant in them that can cause serious damage in today’s modern refrigerant systems. It may seem like an inexpensive way to get some cold air back flowing, but in reality it can lead to costly repairs in the long run. - [Why are Vehicle Transmission Services needed:](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/why-are-vehicle-transmission-services-needed-): Transmission gears deliver power from the engine to the drive wheels, shifting automatically to provide the best power and efficiency for your driving speed. A special transmission fluid cools and lubricates the gears. Over time, this fluid degrades, and its lubricant qualities diminish. Vehicles that tow or haul will require more frequent services as the transmission fluid degrades faster. If the diminished fluid is not changed you may experience: Slipping Hard shifting Chattering Before these these happen, One Stop Automotive recommends that your transmission be changed every 30,000 miles Performing a BG Transmission service will keep your vehicles transmission running efficiently and avoid costly repairs. - [The importance of your vehicle's cooling system in the heat of the summer](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/the-importance-of-your-vehicle-s-cooling-system-in-the-heat-of-the-summer): It is not very a good time to break down on the side of the road in the middle of summer with your family in the vehicle. One of the big causes of breakdowns are caused by overheating issues. Vehicle cooling system perform two things. Cooling and lubrication. Cooling systems remove heat from the engine using the properties of heat transfer. Modern cars use liquid cooling systems. These use a fluid call antifreeze circulated within the engine, that is then pumped out of the engine into a radiator, where the heat is released. The components of the cooling system included a water pump, the thermostat, the radiator, cooling fans, the heater core, the pressure cap, the overflow tank and the hoses. To prolong the life of the coolant system and minimize vehicle breakdowns it is recommended to change the coolant every 30,000 miles and replace the hoses every 100,000 miles. Make those trips hassle free for you and your family. Have your vehicle checked out prior to your trip. - [Why are Check Engine Lights important to get looked at by a professional:](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/why-are-check-engine-lights-important-to-get-looked-at-by-a-professional-): When your car's check engine light comes on in your instrument cluster, it's usually accompanied by a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. The light could be a minor issue, such as a faulty gas cap, or it could mean something more serious, such as a misfiring engine. In many cases, it means that you'll have to determine if it is necessary to repair the issue after a proper diagnosis has been completed. Some people may feel that an Automotive parts supplier may be able to diagnose a check engine light and recommend a fix. They will scan the vehicle, print off a long list of items that may be wrong with your vehicle. Then they will start selling you parts that may or may not fix the problem. Typically, the diagnosis is the most complicated part of the process. Replacing the part may be less difficult. One Stop Automotive has spent thousands of dollars on diagnostic equipment and training for our technicians to diagnose check engine lights. We charge a fee for this and back it up for 90 days after the repair. Please don’t make the assumption to drive your vehicle with a check engine light on. Make the right choice and get your vehicle checked out when the light comes on. - [Why are doing oil changes so important:](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/why-are-doing-oil-changes-so-important-): One Stop Automotive knows vehicles and engines can be complex, but changing your oil on a consistent basis is one of the most important basic automotive maintenance procedure. Your maintenance schedule is usually laid out in your vehicles owners manual. However, at One Stop Automotive, we have a plan designed to get you as much life out of your vehicle as possible. Our plan isn’t just designed to get you out of warranty and into your next new vehicle. Your engine needs oil to run smoothly and avoid developing complicated and possibly expensive issues in the future. Like major engine repairs or even a full engine replacement. By getting your oil change regularly, you can help keep your engine in good condition and provide the best protection for all of your engine’s internal components. This will help ensure a longer life for your engine, and your vehicle overall. This week, we had a customer come in with a check engine light on. The vehicle had multiple cylinders misfiring intermittently. After checking all of the basic components that can cause a misfire, we continued our diagnostic testing and took a closer look at the engine’s variable valve timing. Almost, all modern vehicle have some form of this system. Variable valve timing (VVT) increases mpg, power, and help to lower emissions. Most VVT systems are controlled by oil pressure, which either advances or retards the internal engine timing. The vehicle in question had extremely dark, sludged oil, with a very heavy burnt odor. Changing the oil resolved the concern and the misfires went away. Customer was very satisfied. We now have this customer set up on a scheduled maintenance plan to help prevent this from recurring in the future. Sometimes simple maintenance is the most cost effective way to help prevent untimely brake downs. - [What is a vehicle courtesy inspection and why is it important..](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/what-is-a-vehicle-courtesy-inspection-and-why-is-it-important--): The Courtesy Inspection is a “visual” inspection and takes approximately 30 minutes to perform. The technician will look for obvious problems, such as lights that are out, tires that look low on air, leaks, frayed wiper blades, belts that are cracked, fluids, corroded battery terminals, a dirty air filter, and other easily-spotted issues. This inspection is preformed every time a customer brings their vehicle in for service. In some states Vehicle inspection is a procedure mandated by national or subnational governments, in which a vehicle is inspected to ensure that it conforms to regulations governing safety, emissions, or both. Inspection can be required at various times, e.g., periodically or on the transfer of title to a vehicle. Some shops fell its an obligation and part of great service to the customer to check their vehicles over and inform them of issues that arise that need attention at that time and why or items that can be addresses at a later time. A good example for why inspections are necessary it an instance the happened to an existing customer. The customer came in for brakes, no inspection performed. That weekend the customer drove the vehicle to San Diego with their family. On the way the serpentine belt broke causing the vehicle to be towed and a great inconvenience to the customer. If an inspection been performed the customer would have either fixed it at the time of service or may have not used that vehicle for the trip. - [How to extend your vehicles battery life by doing regular maintenance:](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/how-to-extend-your-vehicles-battery-life-by-doing-regular-maintenance-): It seems like every month we have a vehicle towed into our shop for a no start condition due to a battery that has failed due to differed maintenance. So what can you do to maintain and extend the life of your battery.  We suggest customers bring there vehicles in at least every 6 months to have vehicle health inspection performed which includes testing and inspection of the battery.  Ensure there is no corrosion present, battery terminals are tight, there is no leakage present and the cold cranking amps are within spec.  Always turn off lights and accessories when the vehicle is turned off.  Make sure the battery has a secure hold down.  Try to keep the battery in a cool place, heat kills batteries. - [Why are vehicle tire pressure monitors so important:](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/why-are-vehicle-tire-pressure-monitors-so-important-): Your vehicles tires are the only thing between you and the road. To maximize tire life, mileage, performance, and safety you want your tire pressure to be at the recommended tire pressure. The TREAD Act (Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act) was enacted to bring tire pressure front and center in the minds of drivers across the country. The TREAD mandates the installation of TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) in all passenger vehicles produced since September 1, 2007. The TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) eliminates all guesswork by notifying you if a vehicle tire is low on air or flat. This knowledge can not only help prevent accidents but can also help you improve your gas mileage. Your TPMS can also warn you about existing or impending problems with your vehicle’s tire inflation. One Stop Automotive checks your vehicle’s tire pressures at each visit, as part of our 35 point vehicle health report. We also inspect the overall condition of the tires and tread. - [Why Do Modern Vehicles Have Catalytic Convertors?](https://www.onestopautorepairtucson.com/blog/why-do-modern-vehicles-have-catalytic-convertors): One Stop Automotive is more than capable of replacing your catalytic convertors on most vehicles.
